Judy Jay, born Judy Mahlatji, is a well-known South African DJ and record producer. Rising quickly in the industry, she embarked on her DJ journey in 2017. She gained attention by winning Diesel Denim Friday in mid-2021, a competition involving over 70 DJs in the country. Judy Jay took a hiatus in November 2021 due to mental health concerns, but in early 2022, she made a triumphant return, marked by a concert series featuring 37 events, including international performances in Lesotho, Eswatini, and Botswana. Her musical style, deeply rooted in South African deep house, showcases her commitment and mastery of the genre. Judy Jay’s talent and evolution continue to captivate as she embraces her role as a young musical trailblazer.
Their first release under this new partnership is the single ‘Love Theory’, a collaborative effort between acclaimed deep house artist Judy Jay and Oscar Mbo. The track uniquely samples Kirk Franklin’s iconic gospel anthem ‘Love Theory’, blending uplifting spiritual themes with captivating House rhythms to create a fresh and inspiring sound that transcends genre boundaries.
