I love telling this story, so I’ll tell it again. Last year a guy from Mpumalanga kept sending me music. One Sunday I was short one tune for my radio show and decided to drop a track from this dude @china_charmeleon called ‘Secrets’ which he had released himself. Social media went crazy and I knew there was something special happening. The next day China got hold of me to thank me for spinning his tune on my show and I asked if he had any other music I could hear. In no time I got a folder of his tunes which I released on my label @staytruesounds as the ‘Midnight Rain’ EP earlier this year. I had to meet the man behind all these great productions and China agreed to drive to Jozi and meet for a drink. One of the first things he said to me was that he had almost given up on producing after 10 years as he felt that he was getting nowhere with it. After that evening when I needed a song to finish my show and I played ‘Secrets’ on radio he decided to continue producing and I’m so thankful he did. Here we are today, the day of his debut album ‘Colours’. What an incredible album! Have a listen and you’ll understand why. China Charmeleon it’s your time. Shine !
