From humble beginnings doing small clubbing events, train parties and boutique functions, Jsik Bouhbot has evolved into one of leading dance event promoters in South Africa. His big break came when he was only 18 years old, when he took a risk in bringing out the legend Boy George for a music festival, which proved to be one of the largest attended dance events at the time in South African history having over 12 000 party goers.
Jsik also hosted and judged the famous Toyota Battle of the DJ event at the Electric Workshop, where SAs top DJs had the chance to perform and showcase their talent.
Over the years he has built some of the most successful, award-winning dance event brands in the country… H20, Ultra music festival, Electric Circus and Spring Fiesta to name a few with Ultra, H20 and Spring Fiesta being nominated for Best Festival in the 2017 Dance Music Awards SA, with Ultra ultimately taking the title!
Growing from strength to strength these brands allowed him to do some of the most successful International Acts tours in South Africa featuring the worlds best artists. Some of his tours include Deadmau5, Hardwell, Avicii, Skrillex and the world renowned one last tour by Swedish House Mafia.
The H2O brand is SAs original daytime dance event, which will be celebrating its 20-year anniversary in 2019. As co-owner, Jsik has helped develop and strengthen the brand over the years by being innovative and creative with each event.
With inspiration from the H2O and Soul Candi Live teams, a unique collaboration created the successful Spring Fiesta brand. The annual event, currently in its eighth year, boasts an array of local and international artists, the first of its kind specifically for the Urban market.
One of his most highlighted brands is Ultra Music Festival which attracts over 40 000 attendees over 2 days in 2 cities, Ultra is also home to the top artists in the world ranging from Tiesto, Armin Van Burren, Afrojack, Hardwell, Martin Garrix and many more.
Israeli born and South African raised, Jsik comes from a loving and supportive family whom he credits for being the hardworking, out-the-box, successful entrepreneur he is today. In fact he started his events promotions career with his brother.
Over the years Jsik has learnt what it takes to make these events successful by attending to the finer details while planning these events. His strategy to his success is a combination of marketing, event planning, co ordination, and giving patrons a world-renowned musical experience. He also takes special precautions to ensure a safe environment at all his events.
One of his greatest achievements is being able to support local talent by giving DJs a platform to showcase their skills. He promotes this by judging local submissions of new and up-and-coming DJs to play at his events. He is also involved in the selection of all the line ups for his events. He ensures that he plays a critical role in all aspects of the design and set up of the stages, and personally oversees the full set up of most of his shows and is hands on during the final production.
Jsik believes in giving back to the community and prides himself on adding a charitable element to his dance events, whereby a portion of proceeds goes to helping paws in need namely the SPCA (Society Of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), Tsunami Relief Fund and Cancer Awareness.
Jsik is passionate about what he does and has spent many years perfecting the art of delivering flawless dance events. His determination and ability to produce top-level events from day one place him among the scenes leaders and has earned him a respectable reputation. Jsik states that he is always working on new innovative ideas to take his event brands to the next level. Making new partnerships with leading artists and brands to bring South Africa the best entertainment… exciting times ahead.
