Clara Hill & Crackazat – Better

Clara Hill & Crackazat – Better

Some collaborations feel unexpected. Others feel as though they have simply been waiting for the right moment to happen. Clara Hill and Crackazat’s “Better” belongs firmly to the latter. Released on 26 June 2026 via Sonar Kollektiv, “Better” is the first single from the pair’s forthcoming three-track Harmony EP.

Although it represents their first official collaboration, their musical connection reaches considerably further back: Crackazat discovered Clara Hill through her celebrated contribution to Jazzanova’s “No Use”, while Clara Hill later became an admirer of Crackazat’s sophisticated musicianship and production.

Their paths eventually crossed in South Africa in 2023, planting the seeds for what would become Harmony.

From its opening moments, the record refuses to rush. Crackazat creates a warm, beautifully spacious musical environment built around elegant keys, subtle rhythmic movement and a groove that feels organic rather than mechanically programmed.

Crackazat understands something increasingly precious in electronic music: sophistication does not require overcrowding. Every musical element appears to have room to breathe. The chords carry warmth, the groove moves with restraint, and the production surrounds Clara Hill without ever competing with her.

Then there is Clara Hill. Her vocal performance is exactly what this composition requires — intimate, layered, soulful and remarkably human. Rather than attacking the instrumental, Hill seems to inhabit it. Her voice becomes another instrument within Crackazat’s harmonic architecture, giving “Better” an emotional weight that gradually reveals itself with repeated listening.

“Better” explores self-doubt, overthinking, hesitation and the mental barriers that can prevent us from moving forward. Clara Hill has explained that the inspiration partly came from observing how persistent self-doubt can eventually become self-sabotage. The song therefore becomes an internal conversation: the uncomfortable space between knowing that something needs to change and finding the courage to actually change it.
