Ultra Music Festival is an outdoor music event which started in 1999 in Miami. It was founded by business partners Russell Faibisch and Alex Omes, and the first Ultra event was held after the annual Winter Music Conference in Miami. Fast forward to 2016, Ultra Music Festival has growth its electronic dance music footprint to 5 continents and is recognized as one of the biggest dance music events in world. Ultra South Africa had its inception in 2014 with an inaugural day event in Cape Town and Johannesburg. Ultra South Africa is hosted annually in February and Ultranaunts, House Heads and music lovers in South Africa have dubbed February as Ultra Month as patrons count down days to one of the biggest and hottest music events in the country.

Ultra SA 2016 is set to be the biggest ever Ultra Music Festival hosted in South Africa. The country was voted as the best Dance Nation of the year in 2015 at the International DJ awards, and comes as no surprise as to why organisers of Ultra SA 2016, have extended the Ultra experience to a two day event.
